Dr. Melissa Hershberg created her diet to help people lose weight quickly, comfortably and for life. She wanted people to see results within just days of being on the program but she also wanted to equip them with a plan, a lifestyle, that could help them maintain their ideal weight for life. The Hershberg Diet accomplishes both of these goals beautifully.

Because most people, physicians, nutritionists, and dieticians included, only recognize three macronutrients---protein, carbohydrates, and fat---Dr.Hershberg's identification of the 4th macronutrient will change the way that you view food, eating and nutritional labels forever. To lose weight comfortably and quickly, you must learn how to determine which foods are highest in the 4th macronutrient. Dr. Hershberg is able to prove that these foods are the absolute best for weight loss---it's a mathematical fact.

The Hershberg Diet presents a four-phase, step-by-step diet plan complete with recipes (some contributed by well-known restaurants and chefs) along with meal plans: You can eat as much food as you need to feel full and satisfied and still lose weight. She will teach you strategies that will allow you to eat any food you like---even breads and desserts---and still lose weight while promoting metabolic health.

After developing the diet, Dr. Hershberg designed a research trial to study the diet alongside Canada's food guide. The result was that subjects on The Hershberg Diet plan lost more weight and found the plan significantly more acceptable than subjects on Canada's Food Guide.
